This number, 666, has no attachment to 'satan' in
Judaism. The invention of this number to represent
satan is a christian concept. Given that the star of
david was written about in the old testament, before
the advent of the new testament, any argument that the
star of david represents a post dated concept opens up

chosen based on the principle of the star of david
after it was already known. Finally, if we look at the
ten commandments, we will see that commandment number
6 is 'thou shall not kill'. In the Jewish terms of the
ten commandments, 666 means:

While you entitled to your beliefs, you should also
know that Hitler made it his personal mission to kill
all the Jews. If you really believe you are right, and
that Jews are anti-christ, then you would have to
beleive that hitler was the opposite of the
'anti-christ', or more accurately, hitler was
'christ'. If you therefore think that hitler was
christ, then that is your perogative, but perhaps you
should state that position on your web site more
clearly so that your words clearly reflect your
beliefs.

Finally, you should take note of a recent church
ruling that stated that because Jews were bound under
an eternal covenant with God, that they do not need to
be converted to christianity. The christian people now
respect the Jews are no longer instructed by the
church to attempt to convert them. Your words now go
against the word of the church. Infact, the church
recognises that Jesus said that the messiah will not
return until the Jews have control of Jerusalem, and
it is for that reason that they wholly support the
Jews and Israel. There are christian charities that
raise money for Jews to go and live in Israel, and
others to support Jews in Israel. Today, Jew and
Christian are working together for a common aim more
than ever before in history. Perhaps you should remind
yourself that Jesus himself was infact a Jew. By your
logic, he would therefore be the anti-christ!

Therefore, your overall position is that Hitler was
Christ and Jesus was the anti-christ. Certainly you
are entitled to your beliefs, but they do seem
somewhat unconventional.

judge that which you do not understand and accept that
you will not understand that which you seek to judge.
If you are truly a man of honour, perhpas you will
publish some of my words or ideas to accompany yours
on your website and try to foster co-operation between
the Jews and Christians to fight the evil of terror

I would just like to say that this entire site is outrageous!!! how dare you

The Kol Nidre is not, and has never been, considered to be a method of
getting out of one's promises, oaths or otherwise. In fact, the website link
mentions that an unscrupulous man would think that the Kol Nidre exempted a
Jew from his word. Would not this indict the maker of this website, for he
or she is indicating just such a preposterous supposition.

The Kol Nidre prayer began during the time of the Inquisition, when Spanish
Jews were forced to convert by Christians at swordpoint. Rather than die,
many converted outwardly. I am sure you would understand just such a
situation, and can understand one doing so to protect themselves or their
families (including children). Those Jews were known as Marranos, and there
is a rich history regarding their fight against oppression in Spain. They
endured, on an on-going basis, hatred and travail day after day, having to
pledge fealsance to a faith that was jammed down their throats by captors.
The prayer was provided to those Jews who still inwardly clung to their
faith. It allowed them to disavow those false pledges which they could not
in good faith keep, pledges such as to believe in the divinity of Jesus,
which is in violation of Judaism. These were pledges which, if denied, would
have caused their death by the sword.

The prayer is still part of the liturgy because people to this day still are
forced to make agreements under duress, in nations where the rights of the
Jew (and other faiths) are trammeled underfoot. These nations include China
and Cuba among others. The prayers said during Rosh Hashanah, the Jewish New
Year, are said by all Jews, but they are said for Israel as a people, not for
the individual. Had you done more studying you would find this to be true.
When we all pray for our oaths to be forgiven, these are oaths which are
counter to the values of Judaism, oaths which are taken under duress. We
are not praying to remove oaths or pledges or promises which do not run
counter to Judaism, such as pledges of allegiance, pledges to tell the truth
in a courtroom, etc. Please find a way to understand this.

Anyway, I am a Jew. And I am not a religious person.

I also believe that in many, many instances of man's history, religion has been a
major factor in wars, massacres, intolerance and exploitation. It still is.
But if you are serious enough in your study, you will also conclude that it has in
many
instances of man's history been a major factor in civilization, spiritual and
philosophical achievements and atenuation of man's natural violent instincts.

At the time of your article about the Kol Nidre, you were apparently Christian.
You were also an antisemitic.
But everybody has the right to correct or re-think.

If you go deep enough, you will find out that most of the Jews are not what you
expressed in your Kol-Nidre article.
Jewish religion (which is also an old and outdated theory) has however been a very
special one, in the sense that it was one or may be the first of the "ethical"
religion.
That means that, aside from all the rites, formalities, eclesiastics, etc., it
brought up a set of moral and ethical rules for men's interaction. And if you
compare it to most of the civilization that survived upto the middle ages and the
20th Century, many of them are still valid. Not all.

Specifically about the Kol Nidre and because I would like you to re think this
matter,
let me tell you that the main idea is that, before you start asking for God's
forgiveness, you must forgive yourself.
If you take the time to reflect about that, you would understand that many of us
are not happy with our body, our soul and ourselves. Most of us think that we are
beyond despair in our vain hopes of self improvement. As long as one does not
forgive himself and make peace with himself and recognize his shorcomings and his
limitations, he will not be able to recognize and forgive the same errors and
mistakes in his friends, his enemies, his neighbors and even his family.
Regarding "all oaths and obligations, etc", this was written in a time when people
would make such pledges in moments of despair, when disease, hunger, injustice and
misery would hit them and their only hope would be this kind of superstitions.
At Yom Kippur, all such oaths were therefore considered forgiven by God and people
freed from them.

How far is that from your interpretation!

On one of my not frequent visit to a synagogue on a Yom Kippur evening, many years
ago, I found myself listening to the preaching and was surprised by my own
interest in the subject. And the topic was the one I just explained above.

I don't know if you are a Moslem, Christian or Buddhist, or just a renegade of
many a religion. If you are a sensitive person, you should avoid the
generalizations, the racism and the violence. That was what your Kol-Nidre story
transmitted.
